FHP 320 – How long Will It Take To Get Results?

podcast

I often get asked, “How long did it take you to get to (insert the result I’ve achieved that they want here)?”

My answer is, “My entire life.”

This isn’t meant to be flippant.

But it’s the honest answer.

Sure maybe I “cut” for 6 weeks to get leaner. Or maybe I did a workout progression that built my pull ups over the last 4 weeks….

But these things are still based off a foundation that, in a way, I’ve been creating my entire life.

Even if you are the same weight or have the same “strength” as someone else, you can’t compare your journey to theirs.

There is just so much more to it than just that starting “number” or spot.

Because it’s even our experiences that make the difference.

Someone who’s “cut” before knows what it entails, even if they have the same weight to lose as you who has never done it.

And maybe they just recently gained the weight while you’ve had it on for years, putting them in a very different position for results.

The point is…each of our journeys will be unique.

We have to focus on what WE need to get results.

We have to make changes and adjustments and tweaks based on our progress over basing what we do on what someone else has done.

What worked for someone else, even if they seem like they’re starting from the same spot, may not work for you.

So remember our “history” factors in.

Focus on what you’re doing and track your changes to make adjustments and tweaks over time. Remember each thing you do is a piece of your journey that can build toward results!

thanks Cori, I have a tendency to do that for sure. But I find at my age -61- its sure hard to build up that muscles again in the upper body. But tracking what I eat sure is interesting and a pain in the butt!
I’ll keep focusing on the workouts for sure…
sure wish I could join your Tuesday Cori calls but that’s my running night…

It’s hard at any age to build muscle as results NEVER happen as fast as we would like. And while I won’t ever tell someone to stop doing what they love, adding in steady state cardio DOES make it harder to gain muscle. Sooo it’s just something to note when you’re wishing results happened faster 😉

Thank you Cori for all your videos advice and support. I’m 60 and find I have maintained overall fit body but as I am working in toning and more lean I am getting there as I mix things up. Running strength training and need to be better at tracking will help.

I will keep following and watching you!

One of the things I love about your channel and your program is that it speaks authentically, without wax (in Latin, sin cere). While each person’s physical history is a factor in their own present-day journey, so too is their emotional one. Chronic stress from prolonged high conflict or tragic, uncontrollable situations break down not only a physical body, but a spiritual soul’s capacity for hope.

This program is a beacon of light, a glimmer of (perhaps cautious) optimism for those of us who have lost our way and want to regain our self respect, our dignity.

It’s more than an exercise or weight loss program.

It’s a path for returning to our authentic self.

Hi Michelle. I’m so excited you joined the coaching. It’s definitely a process learning what WE need as individuals and how our history has impacted things. But there is always a way forward. Not always fun at points but just know we are here to help you whenever you need!!
